If you ain’t heard (yes, I said ain’t), I’m presenting at volume 8 of Pecha Kucha Night Detroit on April 14th at the Arab American National Museum.

Part of the process is to submit a short bio 3-4 sentences, which I find hard because  a) I hate writing/describing myself and b) my life is too big to break down that quick. Shit, I’m just saying.

So to fulfill this requirement, I submitted the text in the above image. It’s part truth, part bravado. Anyone who knows me knows that I am all about bravado.

For my presentation, I am digging into my NYC Analog Portraits, which I’m describing the body of work as:

“From fashion, to florals, to street portraits, my photography work has been described as energetic, imaginative and colorful. In my most recent work, I was captivated by fashion editorials and street portraits.

Taking cues from contemporary street portraitists over the past two years, I challenged myself to do something I would never do–photograph random strangers. To make things even more intense, I chose to photograph random strangers on the bustling streets of New York City.

Pieces in my portrait series range from full color, muted tones, sepia to classic black-and-white with various textural elements to make them pop off the screen or print. Tones of black and white will convey a mood and sepia tones are warm and nostalgic.

This body of work proved to be both rewarding and exciting as I continue to stretch myself, while telling stories through portraiture.”

I’m looking forward to talking about this work with art enthusiast in the Detroit area.

If you’re around, please come check out the event! Pecha Kucha Night is always a great event!
