So I went to the early release of the new James Bond/007 flick “Quantum of Solace” the other night.
When I got to the theater, I was tripping on how so many other movie geeks came out for this midnight show. 2 of the 3 showings were sold out & I got there just in time to get a ticket.
After I got my ticket, I headed for the concessions stand for a large mixed icee. I mean what movie experience is complete without a large mixed icee???
Anyway, after watching like 30 minutes of dumb movie commercials & previews, flick began with a roaring & breath taking car chase scene, perhaps one of the most exciting in the history of the 007 series. During this scene, the audience was audibly grunting & sighing with each gunshot & crash.
After this intense scene, the opening credits rolled & I was disappointed with the song; sorry Alicia Keys. And the graphics were not all that exciting either.
By the time the credits finished my icee was half gone & I had to pee but I could not move because a) the theater was too packed & b) I did not want to miss anything.
I’m actually going to stop this review here because I’m bored & exhausted thinking about it. But before I break, here are a few points.
- You really need to watch “Casino Royale” again so that you can follow the sub plot in this latest installment or you will be a bit lost.
- “Quantum of Solace” is great if you are in the mood for kick ass action that will leave you wishing you could rewind right quick.
- For the 2nd film in a row, there are no cool gadgets. Yes, I know that this is a prequel but I do not care, I want gadgets dammit.
- Daniel Craig still sucks as James Bond. He is too cold acting, is not debonair. I am just not getting that vibe that I get from any of the former 007’s. He does not make me want to be him & he is so not a ladies man.
- Race watchers, there is a virtual “Black Out” in this film. I spotted one Negro (Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter character).
- Judi Dench is still the shit.
- “Golden Eye” is still my favorite 007 film & it has the best intro song, only because Tina Turner is singing it.
If, you’ve seen it, what re your thoughts about it & Daniel Craig. And did you hear that he wants to see a Black James Bond (anybody other than Taye Diggs please!)???

Hate to do this to you, bygbaby, but Daniel Craig was better than Pierce Brosnan. Any given Sunday. I found Craig to be rugged and cold, just like he needed to be for this plot. It’s a nice twist. More sinister. He explored the more grit. It’s a prequel so of course he’s gotta be a little unpolished. And frankly, it seems you weren’t in the same theatre I was in because I definitely heard the swoons for Craig when he wondered where the stationary went. Jack Turner and Alicia Keys’ song is definitely not the best, but it’s better than Madonna’s. There I said it. Casino Royale was better than this, but it’s still dope.

Jose – We gone have to agree to disagree on Craig being a better Bond.
I am not sleeping on his action skills because he is representing but he does not have a complete combination of abilities IMO.
In terms of the suaveness, When he gave Camille that kiss in the end it seemed rough & empty, chemistry was so missing.
Oh & that stationary scene was funny. Home girl knew she was about to get fucked. SO I guess Craig used his hot dick & nuts as a weapon in this installment.
I think they will be able to squeeze on more film out of him then he has to bounce.
Am I gonna buy the DVD, yes. The actual was over the top good.

I have yet to see it, but I LOVE that sexy Daniel Craig. Dude is a HOTTIE!
Sean Connery has always been my fave 007, sexy mo-fo that he is. (Even in old age…)

As for a Black Bond, I can’t think of anyone. Taye Diggs chocolate bunny ass would’ve never occurred to me. What is it w/this whole Black version of certain “hero’s”?
I don’t feel it’s necessary. I could care less about a Black Bond. If you ain’t channeling Connery, you gets no love from me. Period.

Tamara – Sean mos def gets mac point even if he is wearing depends. He's the gold standard.
SDG1844 – Why come you deleted your comment, it was great!!! I am not opposed to strong disagreements, I welcome them & friendly argument. Since it is gone,I will go with what is left.
I do not think we need a Black substitute for all establish protagonists but in the case of Bond, the character rotates often enough, why not go there.
In terms of Wonder Woman, we need to find someone that has it going on like Linda Carter back then, with the slamming white girl body & long black hair.

Gabrielle Union needs to be Wonder Woman.
As far as Bond, Daniel Craig is ugly as sin, and was SO against his casting, but five minutes into Casino Royale, I was ready to drop the panties. The husband is off today so I think we’re gonna go see this today.

The brother to play Bond is not on that list, new blood….
sdg1844 / November 18, 2008
Tafari – I deleted it because the minute I hit send I was like “Do I really Care?” and the answer was No. LOL!

Liz – Looking forward to your thoughts & panty dropping status.
And Garbielle is a beautiful woman but she ain't go no body. Perhaps they can use her head & Beyonce's body.
DJBA – Fresh blood indeed.
SDG1844 – I hear you & I have done that before.

I saw it on Friday with my boo. It was action packed, but I will take your suggestion to see Casino Royale. Overall, it had me jumpin' a lil. Not much on suspense. My vote for me & my boo is it was AIIGHT!
brunsli / November 19, 2008
No, no. He is not good looking enough to be Bond. And, he can’t even keep track of what he’s drinking. Please.

I didn’t (and don’t plan) to see this movie. I can’t stand D. Craig as Bond! Ugh!!! I wanted Hugh Jackman. That is one bad white mofo! He could get it!!!
As for a black Bond, NOBODY on that list qualifies! I think Idris Elba would be a GREAT choice! He’s tall, dark, handsome, British and sexual chocolate. He could get it…all day and night!

Ro – Not much suspense but great heavy action.
Brunsli – I cracked up on that plane scene when he had no clue about the drink. He might as well been sipping on gin & juice. LOL!!!
Carla – Stop thinking with your va-jay-jay boo. LOL!!!
I like Hugh Jackman & I think he would have been a much better choice for bond.
