All day I was refusing to be truly confident because I didn’t want to be disappointed … I was worried about all the dirty trick I knew they were capable of — and I wanted this, a landslide, a mandate, hope.
And now we have it — and I think of his parents and grandparents watching this from beyond — and I think of the inner strength necessary to propel you when you don’t have the built in network of family — and I think of the network he created — and I am loving Michelle all the more right now — and I am thankful most of all for the ability to HOPE.
YES.WE.CAN
It will be hard — we have some really hard times in front of us — the kind that pull people apart — pointing fingers and wanting to lay it all at the feet of the least of our brothers and sisters — and I am SO THANKFUL that Barack will be leading us through the mind field.
I am so sad that it has been so long since I have been able to be hopeful — and so thankful that the hope was not dead, just dormant.
Thanks for letting me ramble here, I was about to post again at my site, no need now.
I can’t wait to wake to the new world.

AnnaC – Tomorrow, I will breath a new air, have a new life & will believe in the unbelievable!!!
The pol numbers showed me that the nation in large part is ready to move on together but it will be a long time before we get there as a nation but the ground work was laid in Chicago tonight.
OMG, OMG!!!
Tamra – Wow is exactly it!!! I did not pass out but I could not stop doing my bitch scream. LOL!!! Ot was out of control & I even had others doing it. Tell Hubby D, HELL MUTHA FUCKIN' YEAH!!!
Before Bush gets to far, he will be cut off at the past. Republicans felt the sting of fed up voters & anything Bush tries to get through will be met with a serious challenge.
BTW, what kept yall at home??? Don't answer, I can imagine. People will be trying to get home for the next 4 hours.
Wandawoman – I am also but this gin & juice is helping boo!!!
Mel – Thx my sister from another land. This is for you too. For all Africans throughout the Diaspora!!! Damn!
It is so hard to believe that Obama mopped the floor with McCain like he did. Damn & OMG!!!
Quick Question: Can we now indict Karl Rove???

daez / November 5, 2008
Tafari, my internet brothers and sisters…I am soo overwhelmed….I cried so hard thinking about my father who passed 3 years ago, how he proud he would have been…I cried for my little granddaughter who I can honestly look in the eye and tell her she CAN be President one day and point at “that one”…I was soo excited to see someone who looks like me standing there dignified, proud, and probably terrified…but with the promise that we are behind him, we’ve got his back…it feels sooo good…thank you for allowing me to vent on your blog my lil’ boo T…I was soo afraid to hope it would happen…I’m soo proud of him, of all of us and the way we truly elected our Man…(((HUGS)))
….just me…daez

Ok, I couldn’t sleep a wink until I knew without a shadow of a doubt that Barack Obama was the new president. I think from 6p-1:45a I laid down(w/ head propped on pillows), sat on the edge of the bed, sat in the middle of the bed, walked around my apt, and then I teared up and just hugged my boo.
Hijabi Apprentice / November 5, 2008
