When I heard that Colin Powell was going to be on “Meet The Press” with Tom Brokaw this Sunday morning, I knew I would spend my Sunday watching all of the news networks to get the reaction on both sides of the political fence.
Well, my plan was almost ruined because I overslept so I missed a few minutes of Colin’s interview with Tom (luckily Youtube has everything). I am so happy that I heard him say:
“And I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities – and we have to take that into account – as well as his substance – he has both style and substance – he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president.
I think he is a transformational figure. He is a new generation coming into the … onto the world stage and on the American stage and for that reason, I’ll be voting for Senator Barack Obama.”
As Colin spoke, my ass was clinched the tightest it has even been ever. Even tighter than when I had run to the restroom at work the other day when I was suffering from an episode of explosive diarrhea!
After Colin made his definitive statement; Suite Suzy & I shouted out YES, high fived & kissed (morning breath and all) with so much excitement.
After our mini morning celebration, I asked Suite Suzy for some cheesy grits & eggs. She was like hell no, I have a headache. Then she rolled back over & fell asleep.
With two weeks left, the presidential race is far from over & we must not relax thinking that Barack has it in the bag because he does not. We must encourage our friends & family to get off their asses to go to the poll in 2 weeks.
This race has been so hot over the last several months but that was just the tip of the iceberg. This shit is really about to jump the fuck off, just wait & see!
Anyway, if you missed “Meet The Press” this morning & want more than a sound bite of what Colin said, click here.

He made a lot of people mad with that endorsement. I love it tho. It just shows the view of America he got thru being in the Bush cabinet. He’s tired of the bullshit.

You are so right about “not relaxing,” but I hate to admit that I’m already gearing myself up mentally (conspiracy theorist that I am) for some kind of hijacking of the election. Makes my head hurt to even go there right now.

I almost NEVER miss the Sunday morning political shows… but since I am on vacation, I slept in…. BAD CHOICE!
Ah well… I guess I shouldn’t play with things this close to the election.
Did I mention that I will be campaigning for Obama in Nevada as the last leg of the trip?? Can’t wait!

Daez – It is 4 days later & they still mad! You are right, his words are unmistakable & very hot!
Smitty – "It just shows the view of America he got thru being in the Bush cabinet. He's tired of the bullshit." I think this is why he got the fuck out after the 1st term, he knew it was a bunch of bullshit & he was a major participant who could no longer spin the GWB agenda.
Torrance – LOL!!! A vagina of all things. I have heard it all.
Muslimahlocs – LOL! I could get rich but time is not on my side.
Tamra – In this instance, conspiracy theories are totally appropriate.
– What will happen with absentee ballots?
– Who will be shut out of polling places?
– Will the attire of voters really keep them out of polling places, thus disenfranchising them?
– Will the machines work?
– Will there be dimpled chads?
– Will provisional ballots be accounted for.
– Will Republican poll challengers fuck with democratic voters?
– Will Black voters be discouraged because of reported polling issues?
So many things to theorize over.
AnnaC – Your road trip sounds intense journey of discover. I hope you find what you are seeking!
Looking forward to photos & stories of your trek & political action.
