There is a new fun meme circulating that is more fun than being tagged, which is where you are called out & have to respond to whatever the topic is about (I know, you know what I mean, especially if you have been tagged).
Anyway, this new meme is on a voluntary basis & is basically an interview with a fellow blogger.
Yesterday, while I was catching up on Cluziel’s blog I saw she was interviewed so I figured WTF, let’s do it. If you have read my blog before, you know my life is pretty much an open book & I discuss just about anything, so here goes……
———————————————————–Brotherlocks…why? When I first decided to lock, I started off with the traditional, gel, bees wax & twisting. I was going to an African salon & really was just unsatisfied with the process. I was told that I could not wash my hair for moths (now I know differently), I had to go back every two weeks for retwisting & I just kinda got sick of the process after two months.
During my two months of hell not washing, Suite Suzy kept telling me that a woman she worked with had the best locks she had ever seen & I should meet her to find out her secret. Well we did meet & she clued me into Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks & hipped me to my former loctician at Everette’s Cornrows (Detroit).
Two weeks later, I went for a consultation with “Pam the Silent”, one week after that I was $325.00 poorer & have not looked back. Getting Brotherlocks & being part of the natural hair scene has been one of the best decisions I have made.
BTW, when I started my locks, they were only 2½ inches long & you have seen the results 3 years later.
How did you propose to Suite Suzy? After “living in sin” for over 1½ years & having a baby, we both figured that we were happy with each other & decided to jump the broom. So after we agreed, we went to a local jewelry spot & had her ring designed which means that, that mutha fucka was in lay-a-way for months!
After I got it out of lay-a-way (I’m really not ghetto) I planned to officially propose to Suite Suzy on her birthday (Jan 1st). My proposal was quite simple & it went a little something like this just after midnight 1999:
Bygbaby – Suite Suzy, here is your ring
Suite Suzy – Wow, it’s beautiful but is that all you got to say
Bygbaby – Look Nigga, do you wanna do this or not
Suite Suzy – Why should I
Bygbaby – Cuz you ain’t gone find many another Nigga that can throw down in the kitchen & the bedroom like I do who has a job with benefits
Suite Suzy – Well, that’s true so I guess I will be your boo for life
Bygbaby – Do you wanna hit it to celebrate
Suite Suzy – I’m on my period plus your breath stank, I did not want to tell you
after we kissed when the ball dropped but…
Bygbaby – damn…
Favorite day of the week? Why? Sunday, because I usually get breakfast in bed. On weeks I do not get Breakfast in bed, Thursday is my favorite day because that is usually when I have a few cocktails to help start the wind down of my week.
Why did you start blogging? I started blogging 2 years ago & I did so because I was in a class that required some writing & I started to really like it I started chronicling things in my life & then that eventually spread to pop culture, race & anything that pissed me off or made me happy.
Currently, I use blogging as a form of therapy/self medication. After I write a piece, no matter how fucked up it is in structure etc, I feel great! Having people read agree/disagree/question etc makes it that much better because I love to dialogue. Not to mention that I am considered a Thinking Blogger, nominated by “The “D” Spot” & a proud member of the AfroSpear.
I would love it if there were some type of Black blogger conference so that some of the more ubiquitous Black Blog topics could be discussed in a more interactive forum. Hopefully one day this will happen.
Factoid: I chose to use Blogger becuase someone who I really respect had a Blogger blog first, you may know her as the Lock Tie making Neurotic Hair Diva aKa Brunsli. Yes Brunsli, you inspired me.
Are you in the middle of reading a book right now? If so, what is it? If not…why? Right now I am in the middle of 2 books, “Bad Boy Brawly Brown” by “Walter Mosely”, which I have been reading for 3 damn years. One day I will pick it up & finish it off. I am also in the middle of reading “Do You Take This Woman” by RM Johnson & I have only been reading this for less than a year (LOL). The sad thing about this is that I was contacted by someone @ Simon & Schuster last year & was asked to review the book for my blog & I was s excited about it & even blogged about being asked to do so, but I dropped the ball after reading a few chapters. It is not a bad book, it’s just not a genre that I am into but I do plan of finishing it & maybe posting about it as I promised.
Side Note: If you are a publisher or writer, do not take this personal but if you want me to review something, I prefer books on CD or send me a movie, you are more likely to get a quick response.

If you are interested in being interview by Bygbaby, here are the guidelines
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions. (They probably won’t be the same ones you see above!)
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
6. I will only interview 4 people (I’m busy, shit!).

Bygbaby / June 13, 2007

“I would love it if there were some type of Black blogger conference so that some of the more ubiquitous Black Blog topics could be discussed in a more interactive forum. Hopefully one day this will happen.”
I KNOW!!!!! I’ve been envisioning this for weeks now! Let’s make it happen! We need to talk about sooo many things on a much deeper level than sometimes the time it takes to write these posts allows! AND, about making sure we click on those damn ads to generate some revenue for one another.
I haven’t forgotten about your products either. I’ve been super busy the past week and I forgot. I haven’t even ordered my dad’s father’s day/birthday gift. ARGHH!!!
Cluizel / June 13, 2007
Done! lol
Michelle W. / June 14, 2007
I am done with my questions.
brunsli / June 14, 2007
Awww, I’m glad I’m such an inspiring blogger. But Byg, weren’t you blogging before me??
And I wish I could figure out how to put my brunsli.com on my blog!
brunsli / June 14, 2007
Oh, yeah — interview me too!
Quick, before I change my mind – I’m scared.
Bygbaby / June 15, 2007
Brunsli – You did beat me to the punch, it may seem like I started before you only because I was blogging vi n RSS feed before I move to blogger, which is when I became official. This was during the old days of the Brotherlocks grp when you told us that you had just started blogging.
So you asked & now I have delivered; here are your questions:
1. Earlier this year you posted about a bottle 1994 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon, which had some sentimental value. In the post you asked for some ideas as to what to do with this somewhat controversial bottle, so inquiring minds want to know, what did you decide.
2. What are your top 3 rap/hip-hop favorites of all time
3. If you could go back 10 years in time, what is one that that you would definitely change in your life & why
4. At what point in your relationship did you & your boo aKa Breadfruit feel comfortable enough to cut the cheese openly
5. Have you reveled anything on you blog that you never thought you would about yourself, if so what is it (it cannot be anyone of my interview questions.)
Bygbaby / June 15, 2007
Sugar – Lets get it cracking & I hope in the meantime, you are not walking around ashy LOL.
Cluziel, Michelle W, Ayankha & Brunsli,
Thanks for being brave LOL, I know some would not even dare.
Stephen – I swear it is not intentional. LOL
Aulelia – Maybe my style needs a definite label to make it feel real. Iam not sure what or if I even have a style, I just go with the flow & have fun along the way.

Cluziel’s question #3 was HILARIOUS! I’m glad this interview thing is traveling around. So nice to learn a thing or two more about folks.
Bygbaby / June 17, 2007
This is quite fun but I think after July 4th, I am stating a campaign to set a moratorium on memes until Dec 2007. They are getting out of hand!
