Kanye West is full of surprises but recently he has been setting it off all stemming from the February 06 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. Kanye is featured on the cover depicted as Jesus Christ, bloody face, scars, robe, & thorn crown to boot. The Christ depiction has stirred drama obviously starting with but not limited to the Catholic League, whose spokeswoman Kiera McCaffrey said, “It’s moronic. I mean, Kanye West as Jesus? He’s a pop star.” But then Kanye insists he has a lot in common with Christ because he has to fight for recognition and suffer for success.
I think the whole mess is is funny. Why you ask?!?! Because Kanye has skills & know how to shake some shit up, cause controversy, get sales & initiate necessary conversation on sensitive issues, flat out.
Within the issue Kanye is posing as Muhammad Ali & had this to say “In America, they want you to accomplish these great feats, to pull off these David Copperfield-type stunts,” he says. “You want me to be great, but you don’t ever want me to say I’m great?” So tomorrow at work, I am going to go dressed as Mahatma Ghandi, fuck it, why not. I’m great, or at least I think I am.
Nevertheless, the Kanye is nominated for eight awards, including album of the year for his sophomore album, “Late Registration”.
My favorite Kanye statement will always be “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”.
